Rich Redmond visits Greenfield Middle School

Grammy nominated drummer, Rich Redmond graced Greenfield Middle School this past week while in town on his tour with Jason Aldean.  Mr. Redmond taught GMS percussionists keys to lifelong success through CRASH (Commitment, Relationships, Attitude, Skill, and Hunger).  Thank you to STAUMP Music School and Joan Knoernschild for providing such a unique opportunity for our students.  We look forward to future events like this.

Meridian Elementary School Takes a Stand on Bullying

Recently, the METV News Crew in conjunction with Student Council applied their movie making skills to the problem of bullying as part of our Take a Stand on Bully Week here at Meridian They storyboarded their movie by themselves, came up with a theme and broke it into 3 segments. They organized and delegated tasks by themselves. They then met with Mr. Coleman and Mrs. Bartley to present their project for approval. Very little help was needed or given. They then shot and edited their movie as well as uploaded it to youtube by themselves while I stood by for guidance of which little was needed. I am very proud and not surprised what these kids can do when given time and motivation.

Sevick Suns Shining Brightly

Amber Pierce, a Sevick parent and artist, spearheaded this project, with support from the PTA, using the Sevick Suns’ logo as a theme for creating panels of suns from different regions around the globe. These spectacular panels not only create a welcoming feel to our school, they also celebrate our multicultural and diverse school community. We had a dedication at our Back to School Night and a representative from Senator Joel Anderson’s office presented a certificate of recognition to Amber for her efforts in this project. Several PTA Board members (well, we only have 3) and Amber’s family volunteered to paint the walls and install the panels. James Beard was also a great support throughout.

Donations from staff, Sevick families, District staff and the El Cajon community , as well as Amber’s creative and artistic talents, made this project a reality. Amber made each mosaic panel by hand using a special tile and glass donated by parents and Dal Tile. Additional community support included donations from Home Depot, Toyota of El Cajon, Home Depot, Ducky’s Barbershop and Thunderbird Products.

All donations were honored on a plaque mounted on the wall next to the murals. Each donor and level of donation were included on the plaque, and any amount was recognized.
· $10- $20 = Sunshine level
· $50 = Sunbeam level
· $100 = Starshine level
· $500 = Super Star level

We are in debt to Amber, our school and community for moving this project from concept to completion.
May need to send the pictures in more than one email.

Digital Citizenship

With great privilege comes great responsibility.  Teachers alongside parents must be partners in this digital era to provide our kids with clear direction on responsibility, citizenship, safety.

More on the Core

We’re excited to present More on the Core, a special series on The Common Core State Standards, which will share information and tips throughout the year. This video series was developed for parents by Cajon Valley students and teachers.  Cajon Valley Middle School students applied what they learned in their technology class to produce the videos. The intent of More on the Core is to inform parents on the new standards and ways to support children in everyday life. Stay connected by following More on the Core this year. For more information, visit our website at cajonvalley.net under Quick Links.

Anza’s Diversity is One of Our Greatest Strengths

At Anza, we aim to build a strong community. That means embracing the unique multiculturalism of the school, and ensuring that families feel welcome and invited regardless of where they have perviously called home. We made this video to show our parents that, to us, Anza’s diversity is one of our greatest strengths. We are proud of our students AND their families, and together we will foster happier and healthier young learners.

Naranca Opens House In Grand Fashion

Naranca Elementary School had the most successful Open House in our recent history. We had a majority of families attend this event to learn about new programs, watch their children perform, as well as enjoy a meal together. The Naranca Community Outreach Team was established this year and worked diligently over the past two weeks communicating with parents the value of the event. Our goals were to increase parent involvement and parent and teacher relationships, there by ensuring student success. It was inspirational to see our families and teachers come together as one.
